2018 mid-year favourites

As cliché as it is, I cannot believe we are already half way through 2018. It seems that the older I get, the quicker the years fly by. 2018 has been a pretty great year for me so far so I decided to once again share the things I’ve loved the most throughout the past six months.

My absolute favourite thing of 2018 thus far has to beThe Greatest Showman’. I honestly can’t even put into words how much I love this movie (I mean I can, I wrote a review if you want to check it out) I’d actually go as far as saying it is my favourite movie of all time, even more than Tangled (yes, I went that far). I love everything from the cast to the storyline to the soundtrack. Up to now, I’ve probably watched it over twenty times and I’m still not even the slightest bit sick of it.

Is it even an emilyrobxrts favourites post if I don’t mention the Dolan Twins. I adore them, I literally do. I’m there every Tuesday night waiting for their upload to pp into my subscription box and then find myself smiling like a fricken idiot all the way through.

I also LOVE watching Remi’s vlogs on RemLife at the minute. Her videos always have such a positive vibe and put me in a good mood.

In terms of makeup, I’m pretty much decided on the fact that the Maybelline ‘Lash Sensational’ waterproof mascara is my all-time favourite. It’s the only mascara I’ve used so far this year and already have backups in case I run out. It lifts my lashes so much and makes them looks much longer and fuller than they actually are, and they stay like that throughout the whole day without dropping because of the waterproof formula. It is a bitch to remove at night, I find that I have to use a cleaner and then a micellar water to get the majority of the product off, but I’d rather have to work harder to get it off than spend the day looking like I’ve got none on at all.

I’ve never been one to wear lip gloss but the Tanya Burr Cosmetics ‘Champagne Toast’ lip gloss has been my go to lip product for most of 2018. Since I have pretty long hair, I hate that with the slightest gust of wind, it all ends up stuck on my lips and feeling disgusting however I just love wearing this lip gloss (especially for work) when I want a more natural or glowy makeup look. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my matte liquid lipsticks but this is definitely a current fave for me.

My go-to moisturiser at the minute is the La Roche Posay ‘Effaclar Mat’ moisturiser which is designed for oily, acne prone skin. This is the first moisturiser, designed for oily skin, I have ever used that actually keeps my skin looking matte while feeling moisturised. It’s a great base for under makeup and my skin feels so smooth after using it.

I’ve been trying to moisturise my body more and more for so long now but always give in after a few days when I’m feeling sick of standing like a scarecrow in the middle of my room for too long after applying a moisturiser. This is the last thing I want to be doing in the summer months, and usually skin on moisturising my body all together. Then I discovered The Body Shop’s new ‘Body Yoghurts’ and have been using the mango scented one ever since. It dries so quickly so I can put my clothes (or pyjamas… usually pyjamas) on pretty much straight away after using, without feeling sticky. You can expect a full review coming soon.

And finally, is it bog headed to say one of my favourite things of 2018 so far is my own YouTube video? I can’t lie, I’ve been wanting to make videos for so long now but just don’t have the confidence to actually sit in front of a camera and talk just yet. When I went to Disneyland Paris, I decided to make a kinda arty, montage type video, as opposed to an actual vlog, and I can’t stop watching it. It brings back so many happy memories of the best week of 2018 so far and I hope I get to make more like this in the future (you can always give me a lil subscribe just in case that does happen).

Thanks so much for reading,

Emily X
