Maybelline ‘Fit Me’ matte and poreless foundation review

Maybelline’s ‘Fit Me’ matte and poreless foundation is a holy grail, drugstore product for so many and despite the fact Maybelline are one of my favourite beauty brands, I have never tried it for myself. During a 3 for 2 offer, I decided to finally give it ago.

Considering they offer such an array of foundation shades, I was shocked to find I’d picked pretty much a perfect match for my shade. It doesn’t oxidise after a while, like other drugstore foundations I have tried in the past, which is also a bonus.

I found that the foundation applied pretty well, although I think it’s best to apply with a beauty blender or makeup sponge (which I do nine times out of ten anyway) as it seemed to apply slightly streaking when using a brush. Despite this, the foundation blended easily to give a natural, medium coverage effect.

For me, the foundation isn’t as full coverage I’d like, as I do tend to get blemishes pretty often and because it is such a thin, runny consistency, it doesn’t really cover them up well. If you have pretty clear skin, I imagine this would be a great every day foundation for you. I’ll definitely be saving this foundation for good skin days (not that I have many of those).

The lasting power of this foundation is pretty good, considering I have extremely oily skin. There aren’t many drugstore foundations that last long on my skin but this one definitely was one of the best. By the end of the day, the foundation had broke down around my t-zone, but that was without powdering during the day. As for the ‘poreless’ effect is claims to give, I’ve found the foundation doesn’t accentuate my pores (which is always a bonus), but it doesn’t necessarily blur them either.

While I’m not sure if I would personally repurchase the Maybelline ‘Fit Me’ foundation, due to the fact I have other drugstore foundations that I like wearing more and would choose over this one, it’s definitely not a bad foundation. I also think this foundation would be a great one for beginners to try out, as it is inexpensive and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin either.
