24 hours with Olly Murs

Let’s face it, if there’s one person that 99.9% of the North East (including myself) always anticipate touring, it’s Olly Murs! This week, he made his long-awaited return to Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on his UK tour, for his new album – ’24 HRS’. After seeing Olly in concert numerous times in the past, there was no denying that he was going to put on an incredible performance, or that I’d have an amazing time; even before the event I couldn’t wait to write a blog post all about it.

What other way would I want to spend my Tuesday night than partying away to some of Olly’s new songs and old classics, including many of my personal favourites, with the man himself? After a quick countdown, the lights went down and Olly jumped up onto the stage, kicking off the night with one of his newest singles, ‘You Don’t Know Love’ and everyone’s favourite, ‘Wrapped Up’.

There was the perfect mix of old favourites and new songs from 24hrs’; he even managed to squeeze in a ten-minute medley of old school party favourites, that had everyone off their feet and dancing like it was Saturday night. There truly was something for everyone on this set list.

Olly was his usual, cheeky self and interacted with the audience of 11,000 so well. Even though he was performing to an entire arena of screaming fans, the gig still somehow seemed so intimate and personal because of his occasional chats and jokes.

I couldn’t possibly write this post without giving an element of credit to Olly’s outstanding backing singers and band, who added to the performance and made it even better (as if that was even possible). The entire production of the concert was amazing and all added together to create such a party atmosphere. Everyone left the arena with a huge smile on their face; to say Olly had put on a show would be an understatement. I didn’t want the event to end; I definitely could’ve done with one or two or 24 more hours of watching Olly perform some more.

Thank you so much to Newcastle/Gateshead official tourist board for hooking me up with tickets, I had the most amazing night and wouldn’t have been able to experience it without their help. As always, thank you for reading this post. Make sure you’re always caught up by following my blog, my twitter and Instagram.
