How hard is it to believe that we have already reached the middle of 2016? I feel like the older I get, the quicker the years fly by and so far 2016 has been no exception. What better way to mark the half way point of the year than a ‘mid-year faves’ blog post? These are just a small selection of the things I have been obsessed with throughout the current course of the year.
One product I was yet to have in my makeup collection was a good eyeshadow primer. Although I have many cream eyeshadow bases, I find they don’t work as well and tend to crease on me after a while, so I decided to invest in a high end eyeshadow primer that I knew would work. The Nars Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is exactly what I was looking for. Not only does it create a perfect base for my eyeshadow, it helps it to last all day! What more could you want? Although it may be a little on the pricey side it is completely worth it.
Despite only having it in my collection for several weeks, I have fallen head over heels in love with the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24HR foundation. It has become a staple in my makeup collection and is now my all-time favourite foundation. You can check out my full review of the little gem of a product here.
The Rimmel exaggerate lip liner I the shade ‘eastend snob’ has also been an absolute essential for me over the past six months or so. I’ve found it has become a staple in my makeup collection and I wear it all the time, choosing it over my MAC lipsticks! It is also such an affordable price which means I carry on to repurchase it time and time again.
I’m pretty sure this product was also featured in my 2015 mid-year favourites blog post, but honestly, I have not stopped using it since then. I have repurchased the Soap and Glory Sugar Crush body scrub numerous times and it never fails to let me down. Being not only completely obsessed with the smell but also how it leaves my skin feeling super silky smooth after I use it means it thoroughly deserved a place in this year’s mid-year favourites too. This is probably my all-time favourite Soap and Glory product and it is always a sad day when I finish a tub of this wonder product.
Although “people” may be a strange topic to find in a favourites blog post, there is a certain someone I have been pretty obsessed with over the course of these past six months. Ellie Steadman is a beauty/Disney related YouTuber whose vlogs from her Disney trips I must have watched uncountable amount of times by now. As heartbroken as I am that her WDW vlogs are over, I can’t wait to see the ones of her other trips. If you want to find out more about my love for Ellie check out my full blog post all about her, Friday Faves: Ellie Steadman.
Although from reading my blog it may not seem like it, but I am utterly engrossed with watching videos of abandoned, derelict places and seeing people explore them, recording for their viewers how they have changed and what has been left inside of them (although occasionally I do come across some that leave me jumping out of my skin at the slightest squeak of the floorboards in my house and unable to sleep). There’s one particular person who’s videos I have completely became obsessed with and that is ‘Exploring with Josh’. I always look forward to his newest video which is never too far away and spent uncountable hours one weekend watching so many of his videos. He takes exploring to the next level and you thrill seekers can be sure to find so many videos you’ll love on his channel. Make sure you head over to his YouTube and social media accounts to see how amazing his adventures truly are.
A brand I have fell head over heels for over the course of these past six months has been Paperchase. I now find that my friends and I make frequent (sometimes even daily) trips into the branch near our Sixth Form. If you follow me on Instagram or have read previous blog posts of mine, you’ll probably have notice there have been one-too-many cheeky appearances of postcards with quotes or slogans in the backgrounds of pictures. These are all also from Paperchase and I can’t help but want more every time I go into a store; I have now gathered a rather large collection of them. I also recently purchased a beautiful scrapbook from them, which I’ll be adding to throughout the summer months. I’ll be sure to do a blog post on it when I fill it up a little.
Having been attempting to get back into reading recently, I kick started my goal by reading Caspar Lee/ Emily Riordan Lee’s new book ‘Caspar Lee’ which is centred around… you guessed it, Caspar Lee. The book recalls Caspar’s life journey so far and looks back on his childhood and I can honestly say it is potentially my favourite (auto)biography I have read so far. It genuinely made me laugh out loud on several occasions and I would definitely recommend you give it a read!
And finally, I have absolutely loved spending the first half of the year with the most amazing and absolutely hilarious friends anyone could ever wish for. Whether our adventures have been big or small (the majority being pretty small) I have loved every minute I have spent with them. Here’s to the next six months and hopefully many more of amazing adventures.
