Maybelline ‘Lash Sensational’ review

I recently ran out of my beloved Maybelline ‘the rocket volum’ express’ mascara and since I adored it so much, I decided I’d try another Maybelline mascara to see if I loved their other ones just as much. After hearing so many amazing things about the Maybelline ‘Lash Sensational’ mascara, I thought I’d give it a go.

As you may know, I recently bought Roller Lash by benefit (I also reviewed it and you can read it here) and I absolutely adore it! Many people have compared Lash Sensational to it, which is one of the main reasons why I chose this one over the other mascaras that Maybelline sell. Roller Lash isn’t the cheapest mascara going so I don’t want to use it all up quickly and I’ve found this is kind of a dupe for it.

The wand is similar to the Roller Lash wand, only slightly fatter. I’m not the type of person who is affected by plastic bristles on a mascara brush but I know some people are irritated by them so this may be something you have to take into consideration before buying it.

I mainly look for volume in mascaras and this certainly ticks that box. I have had several compliments on how long my eyelashes look, yet they don’t look spidery or clumpy at all; you don’t even have to apply that much of the product in order to get the desired effect.

I bought the waterproof version of the mascara because although my eyelashes are quite naturally curly, I find sometimes when I apply mascara I lose that curl. Waterproof mascara always manages to hold a curl in your lashes for longer than an original version of a mascara would and this is definitely the case for this mascara too.

However I have found one fault with this product, no matter how amazing I think the mascara is; it’s a bloody pain to get off! I’ve tried makeup wipes, I’ve tried micellar water, I’ve tried eye makeup remover yet nothing is able to get it off quickly. It takes so much effort and scrubbing to make sure this mascara is completely gone which is pretty annoying. Maybe the original version will be a lot easier to remove than the waterproof version, I’ll have to try that one too to find out.

I do recommend trying this mascara out, especially if you like to go for the curly lashed look; just make sure you get a good makeup remover beforehand!

Maybelline Lash Sensational retails at Boots and Superdrug for £7.99. This blog post is my own opinions only and wasn’t sponsored by Maybelline in anyway. Make sure you’re following my twitter and instagram for blog post updates.
