If you know me personally or follow my social media accounts, you’ll already know that I pretty much cannot leave the house without buying new makeup, (yes, I am obsessed!). I thought I’d share with you some of my most recent purchases so you can find out what I think of them. I bought these products on several separate occasions because I don’t think my bank statement would be very pretty if I bought them all at once.
You’ll notice that there are tons and tons of Maybelline products in this post as Maybelline has definitely become my favourite drugstore makeup brand and I seem to love all of their products that I have tried recently. If you’re caught up on all of my blog posts or follow my twitter, you’ll know I am completely in love with the new ‘The Nudes’ palette that Maybelline recently brought out. Instead of going into a lot of detail about it here, click here to read my full review on the palette.
When sorting through my makeup collection, I realised that the only concealers I own are ones from MAC and because MAC aren’t the cheapest makeup brand, I’ve been reluctant to wearing them recently. After hearing so many amazing reviews I decided I’d pick up the Maybelline ‘Fit Me’ concealer, in their lightest shade (10). I feel like this concealer would work amazingly to cover blemishes, as well as for under your eyes. It lasted a really long time on my skin and didn’t look cakey at all.
Another Maybelline product that I purchased, after hearing so many amazing reviews on it, is the Master Sculpt contour kit. This is also something I’ve previously reviewed this on my blog so if you click here, you can read my full review rather than me repeating myself here.
Not too long ago I bought two of the Maybelline 24 hour Color Tattoos and since then I have being wearing them EVERY SINGLE DAY! Even when I first bought them I knew I’d want to buy some more of them and I finally got round to it. The shade I picked up is ‘creamy beige’ which is part of the leather effect collection. I honestly don’t know what to say other than I adore this! It’s such a beautiful colour and makes me eyeshadow last so long; now I want even more of them.
The final products that I bought from Maybelline are their ‘color drama’ lip pencils in the colours ‘nude perfection’ and ‘fuchsia desire’. ‘Nude perfection’ is a perfect alternative to MAC’s ‘Velvet Teddy’ but comes at a much cheaper price and ‘fuchsia desire’ is such a beautiful vibrant pink, something I’ve wanted to add to my makeup collection for a long time. These lip pencils have a velvet finish, meaning they aren’t too matte. I’ve found they last such a long time too. I am planning on doing a full post on these in the near future.
Personally, I think Rimmel blow every other drugstore brand out of the water when it comes to lipsticks, especially with their ‘Kate’ range of lipsticks, which I’m a massive fan of. Recently I’ve heard a lot of people talking about the shade ‘03’ which is a beautiful brown/nude, very similar to the Maybelline color drama lip pencil I just spoke about. I’ve been wearing this a lot recently so I’m very happy that I bought it, even if it has made me want to buy even more shades in this lipstick line.
Something I was yet to have in my lipstick collection was a liquid lipstick, which seem to be the ‘in thing’ at the minute. While my friends and I were in Boots, I was swatching loads of brightly coloured lipsticks and came across the shade ‘Olé Flamingo’ from Bourjois’ ‘velvet rouge edition’ range. To be completely honest, I bought this completely because of the colour but I completely adore the formula now I’ve used it several times. I’m hoping to purchase more of these so be prepared for a full blog post.
Another lip product that I bought was the ‘kissy missy’ lip balm from Zoella’s new Tutti Frutti range of beauty products. I adored everything from her original collection so I’m sure I’ll love the rest of her collection when I manage to get my hands on it (yet another blog post I’ll be uploading). This lip balm is so pigmented, a really pretty Barbie pink colour, and feels so moisturising and just lovely to wear. I definitely recommend picking one up for yourself.
I’ve recently being using my makeup items from The Body Shop a lot recently as they’re amazing quality for the price. Since I am completely obsessed with lip products I knew I HAD to pick up one of their ‘colour crush’ lipsticks to try them out and so far I adore mine. I picked up the shade ‘210 sweetheart pink’. I feel like if you have really fair skin this would be a perfect colour for you, I’m currently applying it lightly and then adding a lip balm on top, which looks very pretty and subtle, especially if I’m wearing minimal makeup.
I also picked up The Body Shops’ ‘Honey Bronze highlighting dome’ which I believe is fairly new. You don’t need to use much of this product to get the desired affect so I can imagine it will last me a very long time. It is a fairly subtle shimmer, nothing too ‘in your face’ but if you wanted it to be brighter, you could easily build it up. Also the fact that it smells of honey makes it even better.
I absolutely adore all of the makeup brushes by Real Techniques, as they’re really high quality but aren’t the most expensive brushes on the market. When I saw Boots had a buy one get one half price offer on, I couldn’t resist picking up some more. I chose the ‘powder brush’ and the ‘blush brush’ and both of these have the same amazing quality as every other brush in the collection.
When it comes to removing my makeup, I’m super lazy and usually use makeup wipes which are quite damaging for your skin. After hearing one of the YouTubers that I adore, Emily, speaking about the Garnier Micellar water and how much she loves it, I decided I’d pick one up too. I got the one designed for combination and sensitive skin and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to using makeup wipes. It takes my makeup off so easily and doesn’t make my face feel sore at all. I’ve found it also seems to reduce shine too.
This was a pretty big haul but since I bought the product over the course of two months, I like to tell myself that it isn’t as bad. If this post helped you in anyway, let me know by either commenting or tweeting me, @emilyrobxrts.
